Trochus grows to a medium to large-sized sea snail. The trochus is a cone-shaped shell with a flat base. The interior of the shell is pearly and iridescent due to the thick layer of nacre (mother of pearl) that has formed. Children are fascinated with different shells and they can be used as part of marine teaching or admired at home.
