The Thylacine was the largest known carnivorous marsupial. Commonly known as the Tasmanian Tiger, it was native to Australia, Tasmania and New Guinea. The Thylacine had become rare prior to British settlement and is thought to have been made extinct in Tasmania, due to the introduction of bounties, disease and dogs.
